Just to add to the can of worms.
I remember that Krita used to open a Gimp xcf file.
Using Mint 17.1 / Krita 2.9.5 Krita crashes opening one. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
All is not lost, export from Gimp in open raster (.ora) format and layers are preserved.
Conversion still works.
however:

I do not think there is such an animal
even pure yellow in Gimp (RGB 255,255,0) ends up with a touch of cyan after conversion
Exporting images. Export in cmyk as a tiff or a jpeg. AFAIK if you export in Krita as a PDF you end up with a sRGB PDF. Difficult to tell apart from a visual inspection as most PDF viewer will always report the file as RGB. The only one I know at the moment is ImageMagick.
Although I do not use it, Probably the best way is cmyk tiff images into Scribus then save as a PDF.

...I will also look at CMYKTool...
