Just a heads up to let everyone know that there might be a brief period of downtime at some point during the week. Every attempt will be made to limit the amount of downtime that occurs.

I will update this thread, as needed. You can also check for status updates on GIMP Chat's Twitter feed.

Thanks!

GIMP Chat has been transferred to a new hosting account and appears to be fully operational.

The DNS has probably not fully propagated, so if you see the maintenance message, you're looking at the old server. You might experience a bouncing back and forth until the DNS can fully propagate.

Had to delete my cookies but now was able to log in. Not sure if others are going to experience this or not. :)

I keep getting logged out and get the server down message even though I get a successful post. Very weird. Pretty sure it must have to be with the DNS update. I will try to flush my DNS cache to see if that makes a difference. :)

Lyle, sounds like you are experiencing a bit of DNS bounce. Flushing your DNS cache might help.

Yeah; flushed then re-booted. All appears well now. :)

@GnuTux
It may be helpful to other GimpChatters to mention the DNS bounce either on Twitter or (better) in the maintenance message on the old server.

I did see your first post today, but then couldn't get back in again ..just kept getting the old maintenance message.
Eventually had to clear FireFox cache, restart FireFox, re-connect to ISP ..and even then I still got the old server sometimes.

Some people may not have seen your post about DNS bounce at all and will assume GimpChat is still down.
Anyone who still has problems after several hours can Google "dns flush linux/windows/mac/etc" for advice.

I posted a message to Twitter reminding people to flush their DNS cache.

In Fedora 22, for example, nscd is not installed and DNS caching, if any, is performed by the individual applications. Procedures for flushing DNS can certainly vary from OS to OS and from app to app. :hehe

Thanks GnuTux, I was briefly on the new one earlier, Flush DNS was the ticket to stay on.
