wallace: stunning! looks really lovely. i think a lot of the wow effect in these pictures comes from what just seems like a mess when you're still working on them.

Urm, I haven't had time to play as yet. In this nice weather, I have been trying to get the gardening done. Hopefully I will have time to give it a go tonight. The hardest thing is to hunt down a render that I want to use.

@ 2-ton,

I hear you. . . good luck and I'd love to see what you can do with this tutorial.

I'm working on it, and it's not looking so swift. I can never get the segmentation to look right, it's not vectorish, the segments are too big even at the smallest (largest #) settings. Maybe I am not using pics with enough pixels, but I don't have much in a really high res. what I have now is really ugly, haha.

It's been a while since I did anything like this.
Another "fake watercolor", using Chris F's tutorial.
Before and after images.

Wow! That is really nice, Wallace. Looks very difficult to do.

Thanks Pat625.

If you follow along with the tutorial, it's not very difficult to do.
At least I didn't find it too hard to do.

Well, I'm revisiting this great tutorial again. I have actually tried a few times, but finally got a result that was decent. I still cannot get Chris's brush 1 and 2 to show up in my Gimp. It is there in the user files, but not in the brush list. So again, I had to substitute, and that doesn't always work as I would wish. This time I did use a higher resolution photo, not sure it helped, lol. I see that I really need to fade down the white lines a lot more!

Nice job 2-ton. :bigthup

That's odd that you can't find those brushes.
There are three of them that I know of and have.
All three are animated brushes.
They should have the little red mark in the lower right-hand corner.

Have you looked under "W" for watercolor in your brushes dialog and for the red mark as well?

I'm not sure if this will help,
but here's a screenshot of Chris's three brushes.
