RJKD, thank you for your comments - now I know what I did wrong. Also, about butterflies, I like the way you think. :bigthup

Dalia - well done; as a great believer in GIMP serendipity I can understand how you feel :)

Also interesting in your outcome is that you have changed the shape of the 'wooden mould' by not using 'track direction' for path stroking the large outside gems.

I might have another try at this type of image today to see what changes I can make.

Well, Omg where it comes to the brush dynamics, I just couldn't get it to emulate the tutorial's path. When I checked the box - it just didn't work for me. "Me thinks" I've tampered with my dynamics  Below is a quick example of what would happen...

Image Never mind, I think I figured it out - used Brush Dynamic: "Track Direction" - my fault.

Dalia - I'm sure you will sort out your 'dynamics'; sometimes i forget what I set and obtain one of those 'unintended but pleasant surprise' results.

Thank you guys for reminding me of my own tut; I have a few more options to try out with it now ... but just stuck with the Maori symbol glass brushes on this one ...

Beautiful everyone! I started to do another one but my computer and BRL are not getting along. Unless it is something very small, it goes non responsive and runs for hours. I'll do one as soon as I can.

Thank you again, OMG for this tutorial. You really helped me to understand a lot of the different filters and tools of gimp doing the first time I participated in any tutorials. You encouraged me to keep learning and made it so interesting that I just had to comply!

Yes we will Pat and I see you've surpassed in your creations! :jumpclap Wow, wonderful result. How did you do the outer circular edge? Is it all about the brush used?

Pat - very nice wood/glass image; please never stop learning. if you do then .... :hehe

Dalia - Ofnuts has a number of scripts for 'decorating' paths (which do not have to be circular) with various shapes; he also has one that puts text along a path.

OMG & Dalia: Thank you for your nice comments. I like the Maori creations, OMG, and your creations also, Dalia.

Dalia, I'm not sure I know which circle. You mean the large wood with gear teeth? If so, I made it with a shape path filter. If you do not have one, I'll share.

Thank you for the informative tutorial oldmangrumpy :tyspin It's so clever especially how it makes the super glass gems :jumpclap

Here's my try, not quite the same but close considering I'm using a much later version of gimp:
