is there a way to get in a gimp (python e.g.) filter the info concerning which release of G'MIC is the user (of the gimp filter) running?
I ask this because the sequence of parameters have changed (and will be again) among G'MIC releases, for calling a G'MIC filter from inside a filter, and the user can get an error if running a release with incompatible parameters sequence.
Many thanks

I found an article saying the version information is in a file, and that when the version changes, a new file in placed on the computer, leaving the old files in place, and there is a way to modify these files so that
multiple versions of the same plug in may be installed at the same time.

I could not find any information about "polling" Gmic so that it may return version info on a plugin.
