Not sure what you need improved with color?
GAP currently handles importing and exporting audio/video. Why MP4? AVI is fine for exporting. It would be a full time job keeping up with the range of audio/video formats and devices these days. Most Open Source projects don't have that luxury.

You can always donate.

BTW, here's the GIMP Developer Roadmap.

GIMP-GAP documentation at GitHub (docs folder).

Also, if you're new to GAP search the Tutorials Index for GAP tutorials. I don't think there are any about adding sound, although it's relatively easy and outlined in the GAP docs.

File comment: Attached is a PDF compilation of the GIMP-GAP documentation I've been working on. It's not the final edit but fairly complete.

I'd like to see Gimp do a better job of rendering some .psds. I understand that this is largely due to Adobe purposely doing this, but it will allow more reason for professionals to make the switch.

Most of this has to do with "Layer Styles" GIMP cannot handle them, yet. ;) But if you check the roadmap website they are going to be in GIMP in the future. GIMP does have LayerFX.py and does a great job of importing those effects into PSD files. By the way these are preview-able with this plug-in.This is what is so great about GIMP. You can create your own plug-ins and filters with python, C, or Scheme. And if you have Linux probably Pearl too.

Personally i would like to see GIMP adopt a GEGL 3D plug-in in the future. With a live preview. :bigthup

Uh? Gimp is going to support non-destructive editing, but this doesn't mean it will do it with adjustment layers...

Contents of V3 are pretty much fixed by now. V3.1, perhaps.

In any case, Gimp is designed to be enhanced with plugins.

The day we no longer need PSPI to view 3rd party plugins would be super sweet!

I definitely agree with you here.

Any of you guys know when 3.0 will actually come out? Or is it still just all speculation?

To whom do we direct our suggestions or wishlist? I would love for the foreground extract tool or program to be much better. Will the REGGJAN filter ever be included in a version of Gimp?

AFAIK it's part of the upcoming 2.10 (that you can try as 2.9).

After 2.10 comes out.

2.10 mostly replaces the core, making full use of GEGL. 3.0 is a complete UI rewrite.
