I don't think that would be possible... If someone wants to know what is going on in a forum they should have to join, just like in any other forum. It is private to all members.

Molly, it was so until yesterday!
We always had that possibility, and I tried (unsuccesfully) to explain you why it was a nice feature.
Nowadays I'm obliged to log-in even only to see the last posts.

I totally agree with Rod, and also I think that registered users who just want to read news and not post at the moment should be able to ask for "View active topics" and -only if something is of particular interest- log in and post.

How do you distinguish a registered user from a guest if the registered user is not logged in?

I take that as a joke, Ofnuts! you understood very well what I was saying: that also registered users (even if NOT distinguished by the system...) can take benefit from accessing the news before deciding to post....heheh
My comment was complementary to Rod's comment.
In any case: that feature was there and appreciated: why is it no more there?...a mystery, because the person who did the change didn't even contact the Moderators (sic!) to get their opinion.

The "View active topics" is just a link to a site search, so why not just bookmark the link?

http://gimpchat.com/search.php?search_id=active_topics

Did you try it?
I did (after having logged-out) and this is what I get
Attachment:
CatturaLink.PNG
CatturaLink.PNG [ 392.01 KiB | Viewed 946 times ]

It works for me ONLY if I have another session where I'm logged in (then it's useless...)
But maybe I did some mistake.

This change is most unfortunate.
I also believe it to be a very useful feature to have active.

This change was implemented without any discussion among the admin.

Someone other then Omega,
or Gimp Chat's Moderators,
with server access,
has made these changes.

I haven't a clue who might have made this change.
I also don't have the permissions to effect any of these kind of changes.
I'm sorry...

:(

It could be a consequence of a software update...

Since Omega is so disconnected to this forum, why did he purchase it?

That could explain why the View active topics and other links are now gone.
However,
this doesn't explain how the banner rotation was changed,
without any admin being present who is able to do so?

That's a good question,
of which I haven't an answer for.

I really miss having the admin an active chat member.

Any site can generate revenue.

I guess that explains Omega's disconnection,
as well as his connection to Gimp Chat.
