Mathmap works with Gimp 2.8.22

Using "map-object.exe" from 2.8.22, I was able to create this animation by manually mapping the original image multiple times with different number of degrees.

Well done PhotoMaster...

Is the "Map Object" different in gimp 2.8.22 vs 2.8.16? I'm pretty sure mine has a cube function already and allows for a different image for each side.

Map Object is pretty identical. It's just how it functions with regards to Filter All Layers.

Nice graphics guys. The quest for higher resolution MathMap images goes on...

A higher-res version is here:

Why so many roadblocks to stop Gimp designers from publishing what they see in an XCF animation?
If only Gimp Chat accepted HTML5 or gifv images?
If only online image hosts accepted videos that could loop without degrading them to gif?
Dream on.

Cool animation, Tas_mania...

Are you intentionally changing the size of the orb, or is it an anomaly?

A shame I can't get mathmap installed and working.

No that pulsing is a function of the animation I applied. (Not at my usual computer and have forgotten what it's called)

Maybe this MathMap package could work for you?

Compiling Mathmap is a bit or a chore. I followed YAFU's instructions.

I've tried that already. Does not work, nor does it show up in any menu. Running mathmap in terminal reports the following error:

Quote:
mathmap: error while loading shared libraries: libgsl.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have yet to see an interesting enough effect from MathMap to make me want to compile my own though.

Hi racer-x,
I should have mentioned that package was for Ubuntu 14.04-based systems and you are probably using a 16.04-based system.
I'm building one for Ubuntu 16.04 but it has Gimp 2.9 which I don't use yet. The actual problem is that MathMap is now 7 or 8 years old.

Compiling and experimenting is cool if you have a couple of spare PC's available. Installing heaps of libraries on a system used as a main computer is not so good.

I worked-out how to get Gimp animation videos made with Gimp GAP into online looped videos which of course are not supported by Gimp Chat.
I upload to a big vid site like Utube, use the link at 1mgur which only accepts online vids and then delete the clips at Utube.

Yes, you are correct. I'm currently running Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon, which is based on Ubuntu 16.04.

Truth be known, there is very little I can't accomplish with my current arsenal of apps running in Linux or under wine.

I wonder if MathMap can do something like this?
