I am having problems with this image. I post the original one (1600*1724) and the other one which I resized to (1200*1200).
I wanted to apply a filter on the image 1200*1200 by selecting a rectangle 800*600 in such way I got a perfect tiled rectangle filled with tiles (200*200) each tile.
The filter to apply is "print on stones" and I can't get it to be perfect as I get on other many pictures I have applied on. My result is always displaced
and I can't understand why it happens only on this picture.
I would appreciate any help or suggestion from you (gurus) about this problem.
Thanks

I'm certainly no guru, but how about something like this? I didn't use "Print on stones" script.

Thank you so much racer, I consider you a guru, :) But if you make a selection inside the picture, for instance 600 *800? it goes displaced. It happens to me when using "print stones".

Thanks a lot.

The important question on this image is: How the image remembers the original ratio? Because the result is related to the original photo measure and not when I resized it.

Because the image is square (1200x1200), you would need to resize to 800x800, then crop to 600x800.

You can also set "Fixed Aspect Ratio" and type 6:8 in the field box.

I'm afraid I don't know how to do it correctly. This is my result. (the file is too big to be posted)

Set to "Fixed Aspect Ratio", enter 6:8 in the field box.
Make selection and crop.
Resize to 600x800

Yes, But the main problem on the image is that the autocrop acts/crops to the original ratio of the image. Have you checked that? how can it be?

I've never used the "Auto Crop" command. I didn't even know it existed. I've only been using Gimp for a few weeks now.

Both the cropping tool and selection tool allow you to set Aspect Ratio. Set it to 6:8 will ensure that you crop to a 6:8 ratio. Then is a simple matter or scaling to your desired 600x800. Resizing without respecting aspect ratio will result in a distorted image.

autocrop behaves as described in Gimp Help:

The Autocrop Image command removes the borders from an image. It searches the active layer for the largest possible border area that is all the same color, and then crops this area from the image

even if mainly used to crop the transparency pixels around, it looks for "the same color", not for transparency, hence no "mystery"
