I decided to start a new thread, not to have a looong sequel of posts in the previous one (my plays).
I started from a NatGeo photo and played with it.

As said in my first post, I'm a bit playing with gimp 2.9.9 samj edition.
Hence I decided to take my filter LookAtAllModes created for gimp 2.8 and modify it to be able to show the new set of modes, which are 64 (!) on gimp 2.9.9.
Here the outcome, if someone is interested:

The input was:
- an image as BG
- a gradient as FG at 50% opacity.
Beware, some modes did abend, hence I replaced them with NORMAL_MODE.
So, ignore the modes number: 2, 22, 29, 61, 62, 63

Dinasset, thank you so much for your effort to get all possible looks on the same picture. Some of the results are really good.

Dinasset, you have been very busy since the New Year! I agree with Issabella. I like most of the outcomes on such nice photos. You have great ideas.

I'm a bit experimenting on 2.9.9
As we know, up to 2.8 gimp has an "error" in the implementation of modes "overlay" and "softlight", in the sense that they produce identical results.
In 2.9 they now differ.
This is a test, using the well used method of:
- duplicating the layer.
- setting mode to softlight/overlay
- duplicating again
- inverting values
This produces a (usually nice) improvement of colours.
For the test I left opacity to 100%, when using the method in the real photo manipulation we normally adjust it to lower values, but using 100% let the differences be more evident.
So, let's go and see.

We may also mix up the modes.

I'm not using version 2.8.22 anymore, and not all of Your plugins are easily adjusted to 2.9 - so I'm very interestednew ones with Your own versions.

I also use the latest version of Samj "Version de développement Gimp 2.9.9 Portable 32 bits and 64 bits Windows 2018 01 03" so Your new versions should work very well

But generally there is a problem with Python in the GCC version (it does not always work, for example: IndexprintDevelopment, autosave, Line border 2, Gimpscripter, numpyops) - so I always create a second version of Python MSC (very ugly patched with old versions of libgimp-2.0-0. dll and libgimpui-2.0-0.dll).

ps.I would like Samj to return to the Python MSC version where it is easy to add additional libraries (exiv, numpy, scipy and others) and in the GGC version it is very difficult.

Yes, Pat, it's available for testing.
Anyone who wants to test it should:
- run gimp 2.10 (my environment has samj's 2.10.6)
- be a gimpchat member
- send me a GC PM with the e-mail address where to ship the filter
- be willing to share results and comments on GC
In your case, you meet all those "prerequisites", hence have a look at your e-mail.
