My steps in Back in Business image (as far as I remember):

Cut out the building - added the sky as the background (moved it around to find the best look since it was the larger of the two)
Inserted the vertical text on a suitable path using JoinedUp Text and used the perspective tool to reshape it to match the lines of the building.
Bump mapped the text to building to add some texture.
Added the rest of the text layers and used their alpha selections to cut out parts of the vertical text.
Used Gaussian Blur and Bump Map to slightly bevel the edges of the vertical text and changed its Layer Mode to grain merge.
Returned to the skyscraper layer and bump mapped that onto the sky layer.
Changed the layer mode of the building layer to hard light and lowererd the opacity slightly (grain merge was an option but slightly preferred the former outcome).

OMG, I really love those images. Great ideas!

Issabella, I love your Jack Sparrow image and the way it appears with the double exposure. Very good choices for the double exposure.

Skinnyhouse, thank you. I'm waiting for it to cool down here so I can stop Gimping and do some gardening, but in the meantime here is a snap of Cradle Mountain in Tasmania ...

Pat - that scene appeals to me; well done. Here is another of Leonard Cohen, this time at Wave Rock in Western Australia -

Great !
first one is my preferred one. Special "light" effect crossing sun and eye.

Thank you OMG. I didn't know that song but I searched for the text.
Very beautiful!

I like your outcomes very much. They are so inventive.

Issabella, thanks for the tutorial.
My humble contribution to all your beautiful creations and from all the other members.
I still have to practice.
