Hello,

Kindly see the attached image. It was initially a jpeg, I added an Alpha Channel and cut out the circle for the current result.
Attachment:
File comment: New Image with rectangular alpha channel.

But what I am not being able to achieve is the Alpha Channel to be circular just like the image. As you notice currently it is a rectangle of the original image size. Kindly suggest how to do get an alpha channel as per new image size, in this case a circle.

Thanks,
Anand

AFAIK there is no "circular" image in Gimp.
You may have a square image with transparency around your circle image.

Hello Aneri, I see you have alpha channel in your image, you can't see it when you have posted it because it is transparent and it is white colour around your image. So it is alright. :)

Thats true and thank you for resposting the image with the alpha visible. But you see, the current alpha is a rectangle, what I want instead is to make the alpha channel a circle as well, same size as the image.

Hope teh query is clear now.

Yes, it is, but I replied that NO CIRCLE IMAGES are available in Gimp, AFAIK.
I re-posted your png, cut to a square.
If someone else is capable to post a round image created in Gimp, welcome!

Dinasset, my bad and thank you for the repost.
Issabella and Dinasset,
Thank you both for the insight. Darn, I was hoping that Alpha to Selection or one of these options would be a way out. Ofcourse since I am new to Gimp, I really didn't know.

Fresh thoughts then.

Thanks

What you are asking is impossible to do in a computer with any s/w. A computer sees pixels in X by Y dimensions. To do what you want, simply print out your circular image and cut it out with a pair of scissors.
