First of all, thanks for all the cool comments. Anyway, it's easy to do; hard to explain, Pat. The flow is to do an edge detect and use that as a mask. The apply the mask and run G'MIC solidfy. Follow that with Lylejk Stencil (play with radius depending on size of image) and follow that with Anisotrophic Smooth (fake smudge; can use GreyCstoration too) and then run Contours>Gradient Norm preset. Use that result to create the ribbon (I applied Grain Merge to the original; may have to do some other things for cleanup). Again, not hard, but the nuance takes experimenting with.

Really do like the organic feel of this method. Smeared the result more with anisotrophic smoothing (followed by wavelet sharpening) for this result. Still not tired of the binge. lol
