Hi,

Would you please tell me how can I keep the original colors (or at least close to) of an image after I Maximize in RGB?
For example, I have a rainbow image, and after Maximize RGB is transformed in red and blue. I want to keep the rainbow's colors.

Thank you.

What do you mean by "Maximize in RGB"?

In order to be able to print the image I have to convert it in RBG, and I am using Maximize RBG in Colors.
I am printing the image on apparel and other products.

What is "Maximize RGB",
I never heard of this before?

It's the Red-Green-Blue conversion in Colors that I'm referring to.

RGB is RGB.
I don't know what "Maximum RGB" is.

There are a few image modes in Gimp.
1) RGB
2) Gray Scale
3) Indexed

GIMP uses eight bits per channel for each primary color.
That means there are 256 intensities (Values) available,
resulting in 256×256×256 = 16,777,216 colors.

Yes, I saw. I am saying about an image created outside GIMP.
For example, I has this rainbow image and I add a text, then I place it in GIMP to take out the background and then I convert it in RGB (Colors- Maximize RGB) in order to give it for print on a shirt.
But this image, because is created outside GIMP, has these colors that at conversion become more red, blue and green.
Because of this conversion I am using only black and white designs.
Maybe the details I gave you are not that clear. Sorry.

What kind of image file is it?

Still,
I don't know what you mean by "Colors- Maximize RGB"?
I've never heard such a term before.

Gimp will open png images with RGB mode by default.
Normally,
you work in RGB mode in Gimp anyway.

Perhaps this is about conversion from CMYK into RGB ?

There is no such thing as maximize RGB.

Therefore, if I'll open any image in GIMP, then export it as png, for example, will be automatically saved in RGB?

So is that it?
Now we'll never see you again,
right? :hehe

By the way...
RGB Color Space is pretty much the standard,
across most if not all image editing platforms and devices.

When you click on maximise RGB you are telling it to reduce colours to pure red, green and blue.

"Well Shut My Mouth and Call Me Corn Pone!"

You would think,
that after all these years of staring at the Gimp interface.
I would have noticed this Color Menu Option,
but no.
I never noticed it nor had the opportunity to us it.

Thanks ofnuts and sallyanne.
Gimp's interface has never failed to be a continuing source of learning.
