Hi, A few years ago I really enjoyed using Gimp, but it's been a long time and I do not remember anything else. I will have to read the posts and do tutorials to go and learn the basics again.
At this point I have not even downloaded Gimp yet, I'm researching which would be the best version of Gimp available.
Starting again from scratch but I know it will be worth it.
Thanks for keeping this forum available to anyone who wants to learn a little bit.

Hi TicTac. Welcome to the forum. We have a really good tutorials section here that is worth a look at.

Hi TicTac

Welcome to this wonderful gimp forum.
At this point, I recommend the 2.8.22 Version.
It is a very stable version with a lot of plugins and scripts.
Do not run for the 2.10 version.

Gimp 2.8.22 download site

Doron.

Welcome to the site. Lots of help here! I agree with Doronf2. 2.10 version just came out and still has bugs to be worked on. Get the 2.8.22 as suggested.

Welcome!

I like 2.10, but it is indeed not bug free. As others said. If you don't use plug-ins, than I would still recommend the latest stable version, 2.10, because with updates it will improve soon enough and you don't have to install another version from scratch.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

After reading various opinions, I am using the portable version of Samj 2.10.
I thought of downloading the portable version of 2.8.22, but the download link is in Sourceforgenet and I read some post here in this forum that this place is not safe.
At the moment I'm just learning the basics, and there are some menus that have changed between the versions used at the time the posts were created and version 2.10.
Just yesterday I did not find the color mode in the layers dialog. It has Color erase, color HSL and color LCH, but not just color.
Also has 2 G'mic (GTK and QT), do not know why to have two, seem to be the same.
I know I will learn a lot if I have the patience to read the old posts, and that's what I'm doing.

Thank you all for the welcome!
May the imagination be with you!
