Thanks for the comments. samj created a preset after I shared my flow with her and it's freaking fantastic. Adding color is just a matter of choosing the right blending techniques. :)

Lyle, I am intrigued by that rendering a lot. Would you share your method or Samj's preset?

Pat,
it could be:
GMIC>Testing>Lylejk>Lylejk test trw
You may try

(if Lyle confirms my impression)

Actually use Lylejk ribbon preset, Diego. Still, the results you achieved look fantastic, too. :)

Ran the ribbon preset at default. Only added another layer at hsl colour mode then using curves to lighten a bit more.

Thanks for the comments, Pat.

To Sallyanne; recommend toying with the diffusion tensor settings to get various outcomes to include wider loops and such. Also the colormode settings can be used to fill in the dark voids (did so for the original rendering blending grayscale output with monocrome output). :)

Still not sure that it is the same or similar.

The greyscale was awesome. I still had to put the original over the greyscale for colour. This time I used the layer mode 'Lighten only'

Can also try re-apply the darken areas of the render to original or fill those areas with fabric texture. :)

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.
