Anybody else care to come up with an idea for a mascot (that isn't already being used by another program).

David likes tigers, so I created a tiger cub:

David uses a Facebook link to share the mascots, so be advised, although it won't ask to take over your computer and steal all your passwords, etc...

Gah, not intentional, it was David's link in the post. I changed to the Flickr thread instead. Not everyone has or uses Facebook (forgot about that, myself).

I even used one of your G'MIC presets on this image, Lyle.

David uses a teddy bear as his avatar. This is one I put together with paths and hastily colored. It needs more decoration and texture. I've also attached the xcf file with the paths.

I thought of the teddy bear, too, O. But since David kept referring to tigers, I sort of went in that direction, instead.

I hope he pays attention to this thread, too. You never know what may come of it. I do hope more people contribute ideas.

I really like the tiger. Mahvin are you going to tell us how you did that??? I love animals and would love to get good enough to create my own one day.

I drew it out on a sketchpad first, then painted it with GIMP, trying to incorporate as many G'MIC filters into it as possible without fudging it up. And thanks everyone, for your nice comments.

Do you have any mascot ideas for G'MIC?

I my drawing is not that good. I can make stick people and draw some herbs but pretty basic like 'stick plants' good thing most look that way.

No ideas yet. Maybe I think of one given enough time. Teddy bears or Tigers, huh?

Wow Mahvin, that's awesome ! This is exactly what I was thinking of.
The only criticism I could do is that I find the tiger has something strange in his eyes, like something demoniac Don't you think he looks really cute but with evil eyes ?
Apart from that, I'm ready to adopt it right now !

Do you have an idea of its name ? Would be nice to find something where the 4 letters GMIC are inside, in preference in this order.

Congratulations, that is really a nice mascot for G'MIC. How much time did you spend on this ?

The teddy bear is nice too. I use a teddy bear as an avatar because 'Ronounours' in French could be seen as a shortcut to 'Gros Nounours', which is a crude translation of 'Big teddy bear'. I actually like the tiger because the current G'MIC logo has already a tiger in it (it was done by a French artist some years ago, along with the web page design), and this is an elegant, and fast animal, as the G'MIC code
I like the fact that he is doing magic also, because G'MIC may be read as 'Gimmick', and also because the command line version of G'MIC is a kind of (friendly) competitor to the ImageMagick and GraphicMagick tool suites, so this is a nod to their work.

Wow, David, thanks for the comments! I tried to make his eyes as baby blue as I could, I've looked at literally hundreds of cub images and they all seem to have enchanting, hypnotic, and mean looking eyes.

A name? Never thought of it, actually. Grey? Gimmick, as you mentioned?

I'd blur the dropshadow a bit at the bottom. Think the layer cut it off. Otherwise, amazing work. I can't even draw a stick figure properly. (I'm not kidding. )

Sounds cute in Dutch too. Not sure how native English speakers would say it though...

Also I still feel this tiger looks a bit "sad". I've tried to round the eyes a little bit, and make him smile also (don't be afraid by the poor quality of the retouching, I'm not an artist, it is just to give the idea).
