Hello All,
A Gimp newbie here, just making the transition from PaintShop Pro....

I have some .abr brush files that I would like to copy into Gimp...

When I do a Google search, some say I should move them into Program Files, Gimp 2 etc; some say I should create a folder in User Name, Documents etc; & some say move them into my App Data, Roaming....

When I open Gimp, Edit, Preferences, Folders....there are no folders listed beneath the plus sign....
Am I supposed to create folders somewhere or browse to folders??

In Psp I had folders setup in Documents, My Psp, Brushes, Fonts, Plugins etc & just pointed Psp to those files....

Getting conflicting info.... :hehe ...

Many Thanks,
FlutteringBy

I'm still using GIMP 2.8 and I place all my brushes,
into my GIMP 2.8 User folder Brushes location.
Which is located for me at:
C:\Users\UserName\.gimp-2.8

Below is a link to a thread here on Gimp Chat,
with more info about this topic:
Personal Gimp 2.10 folder?

Thanks Wallace....in 2.10.6 it looks like they need to be placed in App Data, Roaming....

That's no problem, but I still don't understand why there are no folders showing up under Gimp, Edit, Preferences, Folders...is there supposed to be a listing there?

Guess its all part of the learning curve.... :hehe

I think you nee to expand it in preferences,
for it to show the available folders.
Check in preferences for this.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see,
in preferences for the brushes folder?

Did you click on the plus sign to expand the folders list?

Hi FlutteringBy. Once you expand Gimp> Edit, Preferences> Folders> Brush, you need to add the folder to the directory:

Well, over night, the computer Gods have looked after me.... :hehe

Yesterday, when I opened the Preferences screen & clicked the plus sign beside Folders, nothing would appear....

Now this morning the folders are there, exactly as they're supposed to be, all 15 of them... :) ...

Thank you all who responded to my query, I do appreciate your help...

There is a post requirement needed,
to be able to add images to your posts.
Try again.
You should be able to post images now.

In 2.10.6, when I was finally able to view the folder list, everything was already filled in for me...

Good to find,
that you do indeed have the folders within preferences.
