My laptop went through a series of updates last night and now today, the e-mail icon my taskbar looks like this:

Image

I don't use the e-mail and I have checked every box within the e-mail app to see if there was e-mail unanswerd... nothing. I recall using a batfile to correct a similar problem I had before. I now can't find the file. Any help would be good.

The simplest way,
would be to right click on the icon and unpin it from the taskbar.
This should remove it.

You can also check at this location on your C drive:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

Look for the mail icon and delete it.

Also do a quick settings check; PC Settings, Apps, Default Apps to make sure that Mail is not showing as your default email....

I've had that change on me after an update....
