I actually found a laptop tutorial here:
https://www.tutorialchip.com/photoshop/ ... oshop-cs5/
Hopefully, I can try to attempt it in gimp.

EDIT: I tried attempting it and got nowhere. Off in search of another tutorial.

Here's another one: https://www.sitepoint.com/create-sleek- ... photoshop/

This one, I have tried in gimp but, I only got through top portion. I got stuck on the section with the buttons.

I finally found a MacBook pro tutorial that I can work with:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSvKrp1QHQU&t=416s

It's by the youtube user logo tutorial 011. The user also does an IMac tutorial in gimp:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOHxDkcEpi4&t=16s

Both tutorials take a while but I think the pay off is worth it.

Here are my results from the MacBook pro tutorial:

Nice results. It can be tricky sometimes conerting PS tutorials for Gimp. I noticed a number of PS painters use a Colour Dodge layer mode but Gimp doesn't seem to have one unless there is one in G'MIC. The differences in available functions mean that you often have to find a work around.

Thanks Erisan, I'm glad you like my results. I think this user creates things from scratch which is good.
