The old the-BRL-box-is-too-big-for-my-screen problem

Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:34 pm

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

I pull up Bevel Reflect Logo but the box is too big for my screen, preventing me from getting to the OK on the bottom. I had this problem before, easily fixed by just dragging toolbar to the side, making more room on the screen for the box.

It stopped working. Box is again too big for my Windows 10 screen. I tried all the suggestions I could find here on Gimpchat, nothing worked. I uninstalled Gimp, downloaded and installed latest version, tried again, nada.

Does anyone have step by step instructions for the totally clueless on how to fix this problem?

Thank you.

Thank you.

I've now tried everything they suggested. I found that when I went in via Filters, I got more of the BRL box, but still not enough to get me to the OK. Unfortunately I couldn't get anything they suggested to work for me.

I know it's me, there's some incredibly obvious easy thing I'm supposed to be doing, but don't know about.
:(

Edit: Well, I figured out how to get to that OK button.

Unfortunately, when I then actually click that OK button, I get GIMP pop-up messages that say:

"Plug-in 'Bevel Reflect Logo..' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups." and
"Error: Procedure execution of plug-in-map-object failed on invalid input arguments: Procedure 'plug-in-map-object' returned no return values"

Sigh. :gaah

Sorry just realized you are using 2.8.14 Not 2.10
I tried to send the script, but I cannot get it thru.
Here is a link for the 2.8.14 script.

Hope this works.

Thank you.

I have gotten myself totally screwed up. Can you tell me which of the below I should/shouldn't have, and, which folder they should be in, and, if there is something I should be doing to getting them going other than restarting my computer?

ML Bevel Reflect Application
script-fu Application
script-fu-interface.c Cfile
bevel-reflect-logo SCM file

Please confirm which Windows version you are using.
Is it Windows 10 or Windows 7 or something else.

Windows 10

An alternative to the modified script-fu interface is a little windows utility replicating the linux alt-drag facility

see: https://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=8& ... 10#p242787

Edit:
I wonder if the reported 2.8.14 is a typo? A bit too close to 2.10.14 ;)

For those using Gimp 2.10.14 there is a problem with the current map-object internal procedure that MlBevelReflect uses. The fix - use an old map-object.exe plugin from an older version see: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/4331

Thank you.

I have now gotten it working. It was such a stupid thing --apparently when one uninstalls Gimp then installs the latest version, one might want to have the brains to check that all their emaps came along for the ride.

Do you by any chance have a very shiny white plastic-ie looking one?

Hi rich2005. That is what I posted back, about a week ago. I took the old map-object.exe from the previous version 2.10.12 and replaced the newer version 2.10.14 map-oject and I had the BRL working at not time. It seems nobody paid attention to my post, except Racer X. :hehe
