GIMP Version: 2.6.11
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: XP - SP3
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

There is a program for Theme in Gimp:
http://www.looksuite.net/en/gimp/looksuite/
In 2.6.11 works for each plugin.
Does anyone know why it works selectively in 2.7.3 ?
For python - so, for scripts - not !
Is the reason may also be installed GTK2-Runtime (Theme Selector) ?
If someone tried - how it works with you to 2.7.3 ?

Thank you Rod !
Since you wrote that it works - why searched.
One file (dll) in the wrong place (my fault) created the problem.
Found and deleted - now works fine.

Those darn DLL files can be a nuisance can't they!? :)
Glad to hear you got it fixed.Perhaps you could tell others how you set it up to run in 2.7.3?
A tutorial maybe?

Thanks!

DLL - Dynamic Link Library - When you install a program it usually contains several dlls and they function sort of like little hooks that enable the program to work with, share stuff or otherwise be compatible with other programs in your computer. They are essentially mini exe files that kick in when you use the program that tells it how to work within your environment. If you are missing one or have one in the wrong place, it's like your computer is trying to listen to several conversations at the same time from different places, and sometimes as with us, it gets confused. IN the case of a missing one, it's sort of like not being able to hear parts of the conversation and not understanding what to do and the program won't work, or at the very least you lose some of the functionality.

It's a little tedious but check out what Wikipedia has to say...

I know what a DLL is drac ;) I was wondering which one they were talking about as it could be the final fix to get 2.8 themes to work 100% for me.

Hi ZWard117
Unfortunately, I forgot the name already.
To search for a problem I did this:
- backup
- gimpuninst.exe
In the directory c: \ Program Files \ Gimp ? \ ... the files were added by you
- Have a backup and delete
- New insalacja Gimp
- Add missing files (with backup), according to the message - but only this one file - and when you restart the addition of another - the method cumbersome but effective ....

Actually the look suite installs tons of THEMES in each theme folder is an gtkrc file.
That is all you need to get any theme working in Gimp-2.8

All i did yesterday was replace my old gtkrc file with the copied one from aurora midnight in the UserFolder>gimp-2.8 folder.
You don't need any dll files (the engines do not work correctly with the widgets anyways)The dialog info vanishes.
You wont get a fancy loader or rounded buttons but it does work for the overall interface.

Remove all the dll files the look suite installs into the engines folder and try it. :)
Or just rename the aurora dll to aurora1 if you use a theme that uses that engine.
