Does Rosenman's Box Fitting filter just use boxes? Or are there other shape options within the filter (I have never used it).

@mahvin

Alas only randomly sized boxes, you may only decide the max box size.

Only workaround you may rotate the image of 45°, enlarge canvas so the diagonal fit, enlarge layer at canvas size, and so get something that, rotated and cropped back would look as filled with rhombus

You know what I was thinking? Using a rounding technique on the boxes, but the problem is being able to actively select every box in the image and convert to paths. It's a bit too much of a task to perform that way. Lyle's method is by far the closest for circles, yet, which requires resizing in Inkscape.

Rod, can you do me a favor? Can you post just a random black and white pattern of the boxes up here? I want to try something, but I just downloaded Ubuntu Natty and bare bones on GIMP stuff.

Wasn't sure what sizes you wanted so i tilted the size meter all the way to 100 as max. :)

Thanks, Rod!

I guess you can call this a successful failure. It didn't do what I wanted it to, but it showed me a very unique way to make squares into circles. Unfortunately, the circles don't reduce in size to avoid overlapping each other.
