Gimp Chat is looking for passionate and dedicated members who would like to become part of our dynamic and mature moderation team. Our goal is to provide help with GIMP and promote GIMP awareness. Are you a passionate and experienced GIMP user, with a proven posting history? Do you have a willingness to share, teach, and guide? Do you understand the patience needed to help new GIMP users as they embrace the wonders of creating their first images? Then, this position may be for you.

Being a staff member with GIMP Chat will require dedication and time. You will need to be available on a daily basis, up to and beyond 2 hours a day. You will need to demonstrate that you can, and will, work as part of our mature and dynamic team. We are looking for members with proven posting history, who show maturity and a willingness to help others, without issues of ego. Is this you?

New moderators will be responsible for helping keep the forums clean of spam, trash and clutter. It is possible that new moderators will be assigned several tasks and after training, will be responsible for those tasks, as well as keeping their assigned area compliant with site guidelines.

New Moderators will need to commit to reading every new post in their primary area(s) of responsibility every day, (worst case every other day). We are looking for responsible people who will let us know when they can't be around, so we can make alternate arrangements. If it becomes too much of a challenge or there are personal reasons which prevent you from fulfilling your commitment as a GIMP Chat staff member, we expect you to let us know so we can make other arrangements.

Please post below (or send the staff a private message) outlining your expressions of interest and tell us why you would like to become part of the best GIMP related site on the internet. Remember we will only consider established members who have demonstrated GIMP knowledge. Familiarity with the phpBB moderation panel is also major plus.

Thank you,

The Gimp Chat Staff

Certainly. But the recommended person must be agreeable to being a staff member.

Well, I figured that would be the case (it could be encouraging for them, if they're leaning on the fence).

I think Nixnine would make a great candidate. :)

And what about you Mahvin, are you already a GimpChat administrator ? Otherwise, to me it looks like the required profile is just yours :)

And when you are a big poster yourself that makes much less to read :-) The top 5 posters should be moderators. Only two of them are :)

(safely hiding in 13th position)

I'm too opinionated. I think the candidate should be well received by all. ;)

Tux already know how opinionating I am so no dice with me. I prefer to play rather then work. It takes a special sharing person to be a moderator and I'm way too laze to be either. :)

Hey Lisle Krolsky, you know, I had a hunch you wouldn't be keen on moderating, although if it were something you were to be interested in, I'd fully recommend you taking it on. My only problem is that it might detract from your efforts at providing those unique filter techniques and software finds you come across in your playing. ;)

Probably starting with one, but may be blossoming into two.

what it takes is a person who can separate their emotions from the job of moderation.

I say this because while this board has very reasonable people (and should actually be fairly easy to moderate) I have seen other boards with, shall we say, very childish people who are constantly out of control.

These boards implode when the moderators are also emotional.

All a moderators needs to do is put on their Mr Spock hat (or is that ears) :lol
and be logical :spock

I agree with cecilia I had also seen very childish moderators. You want someone that is reliable and very sensible and can tackle anything that the members throws at them. Some of it can very stressful.

I urge those who are ruling themselves out for being too opinionated, to consider this: By ruling yourselves out you have demonstrated that you do have the self awareness/maturity to do the job! :puzzled

Kevin (also not a candidate because I'm weird: http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f ... 096#p39330 ;) )

Kevin:

That was "tongue-in-cheek".

So are you saying that you lack creative spirit artistically or just in general?

Those scripts sure do look creative to me. ;)

Did I say "THANK YOU" for the updated duplicate file checking script? If not, THANK YOU!

Yes, I certainly thought that at the time. :)

That's a discussion for a whole other thread.
