Voronoi Stipple, then both distorted and textured using Inkscape. All the blending done in GIMP of course. Maybe a stretch to say that this is GIMP art, but at least it stayed, for the most part, open source. lol

:)

I've been away a while, so this is the first I've seen these. These are amazing!! I formally request a tut. (it can't hurt to ask)

You know me and tuts PM; I will give you my flow though. I first run the Voronoi Stipple program on the target. The target itself is key though. You have to pretty much flatten the light. I just use G'MIC's Gradient Norm preset increasing both the Smoothness (soften the edges) and Min Threshold (darkens but also, more importantly, cleans the noise some). I then dup the result and set the Top to Grain Extract and decrease Opacity to 50%. No, I feed this result into Voronoi Stipple. I open the resulting SVG file in Inkscape and run a variety of presets. First, I run Cracked Glass (distorts the circle into something that looks more like cobblestones; sometimes I do this step multiple times). I then texture it some by running the bark preset. I then add some gloss by running Jam Spread preset. I then port the result in GIMP and colorize the stones (many ways to do this; I create a white cutout of the stones and then use G'MIC's Shape Average and that result I blend in with the stones (using various layer properties such as color, overly burn, etc; sometimes all the above. Do this step at the seat of my pants.). Forgot to add that I do squeeze the stones closer together using G'MIC's morphological filter (dup the stones and run it on the lower layer; still some more nuances then that though). :)

A very condensed guide.
Master PhotoMaster can cope.
Something for beginners?

Great results Lyle.I haven't used Voronoi Stipple in quite some time.I wonder what kind of results you could achieve using Ghost with these steps. :)
