I manually mirrored the image and scaled it a bit.

Here it is as a sphere over the mirrored image.

WHY MANUALLY ? it is a nasty work it is needed zooming in to check the perfect allignement of the layers ..

GMIC/Array/Mirrored array ... set everything to XY (at least if you do not want mirror only on X or Y )
The expand checkbox is very important, you may chose to scale back at original size (default ) or expand that is my fovorite option but should be used with the brain switched on (with 1 "iteration" a xy mirror multiply 4 times image size...with 2 multiply 16 time...3 is 48 time bigger.. i let you calcolate for 9....
easy order to create images so big to crash gmic, gimp or the PC )

there is a alternative but i remember the script work well if the image to mirror has only 1 layer...

PS Cool sphere :clap

GMIC/Array/Mirrored array
OK, this is with G'MIC Mirrored array. I had wanted to use saulgoode's mirror script but it was not working with gimp2.6 and that's why I did it manually.

See discussion here.

I'm wondering if they used saulgoode's script for the mirrored array in G'MIC.

Sphere only. I wonder how G'MIC knows how to just remove the background when it starts out with the black background.
