Yes. Was thinking about a slightly curved path for it to travel up and down on. I can do that. I haven't been in GAP for a very long time and I had to think a bit about how to do what I did. Now another thinking project. :gaah

It looks like a regular cartoon style, whether it moves or not! Excellent!

It would be a lot better with more frames but I made the plane roll.

Thanks. I think if I spent more time at it I'd get a better one, but was just for fun. :tehe

I too would fly anywhere with her. With her artistic talent, I might learn something!

Thank you very much. I never thought of myself as an artist. I can't draw anything and I took an oil painting class that I was a dismal failure at and being in the class had me tied up in knots the whole time I was taking it.

I found my niche in computers and then along came GIMP and I got to play with color and form in a way I'd never experienced before. It's the plotting and the clicking and the wondering what will happen if I ... well, you all know. You all do it too. It's all you creative and artistic people that inspire me to try new things all the time.

I am indeed fortunate to have so many talented people to learn from.

As far as you flying with me, you're right alongside me and we're all flying together.

You have done a lot of work... and that's great.
But I still can't seem to get this plugin to work. :gaah

I have a debian linux machine, and I'm running Gimp version 2.4.7. There seem to be plenty of versions of this plugin for Windows users. But WayBack machine does not have the files for linux. Or rather, there are references to these downloads, but they don't actually exist to download. At least, not yet. They say they will get them in on their next crawl...

I did find one copy of a plasma2.c file, but implementation is a problem. I get a sheet of errors a mile long because (I think) it's the 1.2 version. It has some fairly serious problems... including a some kind of looping error as far as I can tell. ...
I have typed the first two lines, as far as I can read. There are a bunch of symbols that don't translate well... sorry about that.
dorthy@mcgee:$ gimptool-2.0 --install plasma2.c
{bunch of settings and switches omitted for clarity}
plasma2.c:72:37: error: libgimp/stdplugins-intl.h No such file or directory
plasma2.c:in function aXXqueryaXX:
warning: implicit declaration of function aXXN_aXX
warning: Passing argument 7 of aXXgimp_install_procedureaXX makes pointer from integer without a cast  ....

for what it's worth that last error repeats itself in subtle permutations over and over again. I have seen this complaint all over the web, and most of those questions have remained unanswered since, say... 2004 or so.

So... do I just give up? Is my problem too trivial to answer? Or does no one really know? Does a new version of this plugin exist? If so, why has the 'Net been scrubbed of all Linux versions of it? Can I get one that works for my version of linux?

I read from a snipped in a book on google that the file it's complaining about isn't supposed to be referenced by plugins unless they are designed in-house. So... I thought, maybe the problem is simple. I'll just comment out those references to that file, and maybe It Will Just Work.

It didn't change anything at all, actually. Which is interesting. Not sure what that means, though.

I have done a little bit of c-coding, but not enough to fix this problem.

Thanks for your time and attention on this!

If you need more information from the compile dump, let me know!

~Dorthy

Hi Dorthy, :welcome to Gimp Chat.

GnuTux has zipped the Linux version of Plasma2 here. He and I are using Fedora Linux but you can give it a try.

Unzip the file and put plasma2 in your home/<yourname>/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins folder and give it a try. You may have to give it permission. Right click the file and click Properties > Permissions and check the box next to Execute if it's not already checked.

Finally got some time to venture further into the posts. Nice animation, O. What are you using to animate? GAP?
