XaoS is a pretty cool FOSS package for playing around with Fractals. Got these results using the randomize function.

Lovely. That'll sit nicely alongside all my other fractal programs.

Wow it's easy to use!

Dunno how Gnofract compares but for Windows, Chaos Pro is the most versatile free generator but I prefer Sterlingware 2 for this reason.

I have both GnoFract 4D and Qosmic Fractal Flame Editor, which are in the Fedora repositories. I agree that XaoS is easy to use and has some cool features, as well.

GC Members have posted some nice fractals created with Chaos and Apophysis in Windows.

I've got Apophysis as well. I think the flame parameters are interchangeable with Gimp's. I do find it difficult to get anything spectacular out of it but I've toyed with the idea of using it for effects.

Fr0st is cross-platform and is a bit like Apophysis. Had a quick toy with it and added a plasma grain merge layer. http://fr0st.wordpress.com/

Hey, have you tried autopilot in Xaos? It's under UI. Highly recommended!

When you load one of Sterling's fractals you are confronted with something like this:

What do you do with it without ruining it?

Oh yeah, that's a great visual.

Nice result you got from Sterlingware 2. Isn't that Windows only? I tend to only work with Windows when paying clients are involved. :pengy
