Just reading everything her mom has posted, Fibromyalgia comes to mind instantly.
3 medicines have been approved in the US for treating Fibromyalgia, Pregabalin was approved in June, 2007, duloxetine was approved in June, 2008, and milnacipran in January, 2009. However, these are treating the symptoms, and not the cause.
There is no known cure for Fibromyalgia.
Symptoms include chronic widespread pain and allodynia, a heightened and painful response to pressure, debilitating fatigue, sleep disturbance, joint stiffness, difficulty with swallowing, bowel and bladder abnormalities, numbness and tingling, and cognitive dysfunction. It is frequently combined with psychiatric conditions such as depression and anxiety and stress-related disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder.
Fibromyalgia is, like my recent bout with Bell's Palsy, a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning if they can't find any other reason to explain the symptoms it is used as a catch all explanation.
I am not a doctor, so don't take my word as medical advice. Also understand that there is a lot of controversy surrounding Fibromyalgia in the world of doctors.
