you :ninja'd me Lyle :teeth

I am still using 2.6.12 and it will take a lot to beat it IMO.

I will change to a stable version of 2.8, only when it arrives in the Fedora library.
I can wait, no problems with hang ups or crashes, ever.

Hey! maybe it is cuz I use Linux Fedora  :pengy

I use both 2.6.12 and 2.8-RC1.
2.6.12 has 2.6.11 bugs repaired.
I have them on separate installs to avoid them being a nuisance to each other.
There are things I can only do with 2.8.
I copy the work done in 2.8 to 2.6 for color correction etc.
That's a pita but the only way I can get the result I want.

2.8 becomes too sluggish when you enable lcms.
Gerard.

I will admit that if the brush size is big, that there definitely is a lag, but since I'm mainly a plugin/filter guy, it's not been such an issue for me (don't like to paint since the mouse stinks for me for that task and too cheap to buy a pad). If I had to use a pad, I know I would be dissapointed in 2.8 so I can see why folks don't like it, but, again, for what I use GIMP for, it's been quite stable and fantastic. Viva la filter guys. lol

:)

It's not just the brushes (large or small) but selection tools and anything else where you have to move a cursor over the image.
Disable color management and everything moves at normal speed.
If you never make prints it's probably ok not to have it.
Gerard.

I only use sRGB Gerard, but I do have to have the ability to convert images that are not sRGB to sRGB so have no choice but to leave it enabled. I believe the gurus are well aware of this issue and hopefully it will be patched along with other issues that have cropped up when it does get rc2'ed (don't think it will still be ready for official release until they do an rc2 run because of all the issues that cropped up even from the beta builds). :)

I like 2.6.11 (I don't have 2.6.12 because I haven't found it for a mac). I have Partha's 2.7 for mac, and like trying it out, but it has some weird ways, it locks up or crashes on certain things, so I usually go back to 2.6 because I know how to make it work and it seems to work quite well for my needs. I will use 2.7 for the new updatable GMic, though.
