So much photo, illustration ,articles and even video on the delicate snowflakes patterns, and almost nothing on rockflakes even if are less fragile and maybe even more fascinating..
So here some exclusive images of rockflakes (on transparency )

EDIT: are png, to preserve transparency, all at least at 1600x1200 so page may take a bit to load even on broadband and almost forever for dial up...but when loaded you get higher quality possible )

and thinking to Leylejk why not a rockflake pattern..ooppss iGC would not accept the pattern size, scaling down to fit below 5mb
yes ,done

Glad you like Drac

As snowflakes also rockflakes tend to melt when they hit the ground as here..

Image

But back to renders and patterns

this is seamless and contains also 4 cool frames

Image

and a few objects a triangle

Image

a rectangle

Image

a rhombus

Image

another rockflake

Image

Decorative borders

Image

Till now all seamless, to end something raw and less symmetrical

Image

That reveal also the origin of this series, a series of M3D renders, that come out interesting but not too original

i used gimp to first cut out the original BG (using the z-buffer, a sort of depth map that M3D may automatically create, often very handy to cut out the bg cleanly)

Then Gmic to morph, more exactly mirror (and would be a lot more to explore , i am sure i can make very nice globes , cubes and ellisoids from there

i selected the most interesting renders, but i have more , if you think interesting or useful just ask i may add more

and putting a few of that together, offsetting the layers to make symmetries less obvious, and adding a new bg

Climbing El Dorado

Image

that i suppose is a fake M3D since most of effect were assembled in gimp (using that semi-transparent layers i did show before )

PS Lylejk
yes i do know Schmiegal i like your images (and his filters for pixelbenders ) is one of my contact on flickr and DA
