Very cool josephbupe.
Maybe you could run the plastic wrap filter or something on the pulp section to make it look wet and shiny. Maybe you could also bump the pulp section a bit too to make it stand out.

For some reason, the attachment was orphaned. I reattached it to the post.

Nice work, btw..

@josephbupe
I hope you don't mind but you did such a nice job of making that orange slice, I just had to play with it to try to make it juicy. here is what I have come up with so far.

Hi,

It looks really juicy!

I have been trying to attach a xcf file (1.47 mb) but seems my internet link is failing to upload. I will try again.

Stay well and thanx alot for that.

Try zipping it. I'm not sure if xcf is allowed but zip is.

Hi all,

Here is an improved orange from my previous post.

For this one i used the plastic wrap filter to enhance the appearance.

Any comments, please?

That looks great...I see the layers, but a run down of what you did would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

Ok, I will try to narrate the steps I took to gimp an orange.

Attachments:
File comment: First off, draw a circle with an Ellipse Select Tool, then pick a brush called "Cell 02", set the foreground colour to ffb80f (ORANGE)

File comment: On a new layer, draw another circle with a smaller radius, stroke selection (or stroke path if you used the path tool) at line width 6 px.

Next, I clicked and draged the verticle ruler to the centre of the circle I created. I did same with the horizontal to draw guides for the middle point of an orange.

With the Paths Tool I draw the triangles of the orange. Drawing only one triangle and duplicate and rotated the duplicated layers while positioning them around. After that I selected and filled them with orange colour (ffb80f).

File comment: Now it's time to put in those several cells called "carpels". Any appropriate shape would do. In my case I utilised the brush called "vegetation 01" (available in photocomix's version of Gimp 2.7.1). I enlarged the brush and only cut out only one of the brush cells, I then painted (with a white foreground at 28.2 opacity) around one of the triangles created earlier, rotating the brush in various positions for each triangle.

For the juicy part platstwarp filter. BTW, I discovered various ways of doing the effect. Open the G'MIC plugin, under CONTOURS, select a filter called "Local Orientation" while you have the cells layer selected.

Sorry, I couldn't attached more than three screen shorts.
