The squeaky wheel got the grease again. Dave added a cool new capability in G'MIC allowing for custom lathe profiles. Gets your milling machine now. Click here for the thread. Click the image for the Flickr for the image. :)

Some definitely cool play so far. Took a lathe profile from Image Analyzer for this one. :)

For some reason I could not make the texture layer at the top to map to my shape without tweaking some of the settings. Can someone offer some clues?

This is the Dialog that was up in Flickr.

Image

These are my settings. I chose lines and liked the results so kept them. To get the texture to show up I changed the Input Layers setting way over on the left.

Image

I ended up with two layers which you see spread out.

Like the wireframe look. Might give it a whirl to see if I can get a similar result. I've been using Active and Below. Believe your settings is the one that Dave recommends. Still playing with the filter. Cool for certain types of 3D results. :)

Again, I had no idea G'MIC could do wireframes (at least for 3D objects). Cool stuff. :)

Also, another pair of bishops (yup; another binge; lol). :)

Need to download the latest G'MIC version; it's still in beta. Bet Dave will release it fully very soon since it's quite stable. I use the Windows Version of G'MIC by the way. :)

David keeps outdoing himself. This is one splendid effect. I think we should send him a donation (or at least a postcard).

I agree Mahvin, but I've been out of work since February and only occasionly had some contract work. I know; sucks to be me. Hopefully things will get better. Might try something around November time (won't be much, but Dave definitely deserves a lot more then I can give him, but I'll try). :)

I need to send something, too. His work is amazing!

Hey GMS! I love the texture added to the stem! Brilliant idea!

Dave just added a light control addition to it. Just refresh your filters and it will be there. And yes, like the Chinese folk (which I'm 1/16th of), I thought I virtually saw one too. lol
