Just noticed at Sourceforge that a new version of Apophysis 7 available. I had the 32-bit version installed on my system and noticed that an AMD64 64-bit version (and I happen to have an AMD64 processor; lol) was available so I un-installed my old version and re-installed the new. Work nicely. Attached the Flame file (small enough so why not) too. :)

Lovely. Apophysis is one of my favourite programs. Thank you for that. The Spirit Dancers here were created in Apophysis.

I see at least 2 versions at sourceforge. Apophysis 7 by xyrus02 and Apophysis 2.09 by ronaldhordijk, utak3r, zueuk. I've got both files but haven't loaded either, which is the better choice for Vista? Apophysis 7 looks like a newer fork, is that the only difference? I get a "Server not found" from the Apophysis 7 web site link.

Don't quote me on this but I believe Apophysis7 is capable of 3D rendering. Apophysis 2.09 would be the latest release of the original Apophysis.

Apophysis 7 came out nearly the same time that Win7 first got released and I actually thought it was created as a Win7 friendly version for Apophysis. lol

:)

One good thing is that its flame parameters are interchangeable with Gimp's.

I found this in the help section.

Import GIMP-parameters
Lets you choose GIMP-parameters to be imported into Apophysis. This feature is deceprated in the Apophysis 7X-branch and may be removed in future versions.

Question; How do you use flames between Gimp and Apophysis?

I still have and use both versions, don't ask me why. I love fooling around with it but I wish I could get the magnificent results some people get. I still do best with Fractal Explorer it hasn't been updated in eons, which I think is a shame but it still gives me the best results.

Odinbc - under File> import Gimp parameters in 2.09. Haven't tried it in 7x.

GMS - It's the same with a lot of free fractal programs. The developers seem to run out of steam easily. I always thought FE was worthy of greater things, though I mainly use Chaos Pro and Sterling2 along with Mandelbulb 3D.
