There's a lot here that could be criticized but I've spent too long on this already and I'm not taking it any further.

People are hard to draw, this is very very good!

Overall looks good to me; maybe a tad too dark (but who am I to criticize). :)

Thank you very much. People and animals are the hardest because they have specific shapes and proportions that you have to get right. I'm ok with people because I've been drawing them all my life and took life drawing classes as a teenager but I couldn't draw an animal without reference to save my life.

Thank you Lyle. I might have over-adjusted the levels a bit at the end. Criticism is welcome. If I don't change this one, it'll serve me in future paintings.

Great job! Those wings are really slick... as is that mysterious island in the back. Very good composition and atmosphere! :)

One thing that jumps out at me: Her hair looks a little flat to me (painted on). I think a few shadows underneath would get it to poof out a bit. Her top is better, but I don't think it would lie perfectly flat against her entire chest.

I find hair difficult and this was quite an improvement on previous attempts. Interesting you called Glastonbury Tor a "mysterious Island." Glastonbury is full of mystery and legend and was once an island - reputedly Avalon.

I said I wasn't taking it any further but I decided to make a few improvements.

(Is this displaying OK for everyone? It looks odd in my browser.)

EDIT: Still wasn't sure about how it looked in the browser so I exchanged the JPG for a BMP.

Looks fine in my browser,
Did you do something to her shoulder on the right side of the screen.

No. I lightened her lips, straightened her hair a bit and added some shadows under her hair and costume. I also added some darker values to her forehead. Glad it looks OK in your browser.

Her costume looks a bit more 3D to me, now. I had assumed there was an ocean hidden... probably because that's what the North Carolina landscape would look like :)

Probably an indication of the limits of my painting ability. It's the Somerset Levels, which are flat and grassy, covered in fog.

Overall it looks great! Glad you finally posted it after teasing us with it for a while now. The nose is the only thing that doesn't look quite right but I can't draw a circle without Gimp. It did occur to me that the wings might look better with a bit of a translucent quality to them. The fractal is definitely cool looking on the wings.

Thanx Drac. The nose looks slightly bent in the wrong direction but it's too complicated to fix now. I wish I had seen it at the drawing stage. Translucent wings is a great idea. Again, it's too complicated to fix now but I'll bear it in mind in future paintings. Sorry 'bout the teasing. I normally finish a painting in about 4 hours and this one has taken me months because I'm finding concentrating difficult. I'll keep anything else I do secret until it's finished.

It all started with the face at the bottom of this page. http://www.gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3938

Thank you. I used Gimp's Fractal Explorer for that. (Cheating, but what the heck!)
