I was looking really hard at it and thought it looked as though the fur itself was bump mapped. I was guessing that you used the Paper texture pattern but no matter. The fade to black is easy to do with a layer mask but would not have the same effect as you got with your software and the irregular shape of your subject. I think it may be possible by using an inverted selection and feather, then fill with the black. I may have to play with that to see if it can be doe that way. Great effect!

I love seeing dogs playing and enjoying life. Our dog learned the phrase "do you want to go to the doggie store" early on and would become very excited and vocal when we said it. He knew it was time to go pick out another toy for himself.
