That's the new rain pattern in Gimp-2.8. :)
The font face is Ariel Bold by the way.

Can 2.8 patterns be transferred to 2.6? I might copy some over from my portable.

Nice to know! I'm hesitant to go upto 2.8 but want the toys. Really like the text Rod, it's subtle enough to actually be useful in projects. The rain gives a nice grain pattern, could it be used in metallic effects I wonder?

I used a web ripper and grabbed several sites, I have thousands, at least 4 dvds full. Which is silly because I don't even know what I have, I just made them so I have them if I'm away from home.

This pattern could be used for quite a few different effects i think.
Metallic grain included. :)
The effect of the bevel on this text was created with a channel and lighting effects.
Same with the Here's Looking at You topic in my other thread. The eye ball outer bulge was created the same way.
A channel with 3 shades of gray, and a blur. Then use the channel as a bump map with the lighting effects filter.
By the way i have successfully added the larger preview of Lighting Effects to Gimp-2.8.1

Rod I would love to see the method of creating the text in a tutorial format

A short tut would be great, as it's still wet and cold here.

First create your text layer
Alpha to select the text - fill with the color #777777, and make the layer invisible
Go to Selection > Save to channel
Make the channel visible

Shrink selection by 7 pixels and fill with color #000000 or black

Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur and blur by about 11-15 pixels
Make the channel layer invisible and go back to the layers dialog and make the text layer visible again
Go to Filters>Light and Shadow>Lighting effects
Use the default light settings but make sure to use the channel as a bump map.

Select ok and let it render

Alpha to select the bumped text layer and create a new layer.
Fill with the rain pattern and set the mode to hard light
Go to select>None
Go to Colors>Brightness and Contrast and set the brightness to about 60
Now just create a drop shadow and your done. :)

You can adjust the bevel settings by changing the channel selection blur and gray shades.

I hope you could understand that.

You added the 3-D script as non-interactive? :)
