You learnt how to paint like this in four years???

I'm 47 and I've been painting all my life and I'm really impressed with the work you do.
I'm glad to hear you're impressed - thanks for the encouragement

I have no clue what the usual time frames are, if there are any, for learning anything in particular. It's easy for me to get frustrated since I learn math so much quicker. Although that may not be true. I've studied the foundations of mathematics much more intensely, and for longer, than the foundations of art. Growing up, my brother was always the family artist. I rarely dabbled in it. Somewhere along the way he lost interest in it, but that was after I moved away.
These three drawings were done in Summer 2008, when I first decided I wanted to make an effort to learn to draw. At the time I was quite proud of them. At some point I decided I would have more options if I scanned line art and colored digitally. Soon afterward I found Griatch's tutorials. That's where I began.
