i did this just to illustrate a tip(on animating gmic filters )...tip that nobobody apparently understand or was able to use

well at least the animation should work..i "animated" the gmic pattern frame filter in the most simple possible way:
from min value to max and backward

IT IS A 2MB FILE, will need a bit to load properly before will look as crap

For some reason the filter progression is not regular, the frame size is not progessevly increased as should by the frame size setting ..from that the bouncing.

i notice also same irregolar progression aso with other filters, looks ad a gmic bug but i am a bit uncertain if report because in pratice is advertible only using the filters for animation

It does look like they need to do a bit more work on the filter. Interesting animation however.

Hum...maybe is better i report it:
Normally would be very hard notice that bug but become very evident using filters for animation

Edit
humm...maybe that example is not the best to illustrate the problem to David
(The command i use there is not to set frame size but the number of tiles of the pattern frame... in theory more tiles are in the frame more thick should be the frame...but is not a so straight relation as for the "frame size" command ofother filters that give me the same weird bouncing effect )

Love it! I like the animation! I'm trying to tell if the animation steps are linear or logarithmic? It is a great animation!!

steps are very simple:

1
open a 1 layer image
load gmic
input option as default
ouput option "new layer"
Array and frames/pattern arraray
Put "tiles" to minimum value possible
click "apply"
raise "tiles" value of 1
click "apply"
continue till you arrive to the max value possible

2 to make the loop

of course you may do manually in some way but now lowering "tile" value of 1 at each step, but to spare time
you may or

duplicate the image
run saulgooge "reverse layerstack" script, delete bg layer
save the dup, and from the original image use "Open as layer(s)" to add the layers of the dup

Or

you may use gap Duplicate frames:
split image in frames
now from frame 000001_ call gap-duplicate frames
move the first slider from default (1) to the max possible-1
let the other slider to 1

done
