 Post subject: how is this done?? please help...

i am not new to gimp. but i am new to gimp animations. i am using gimp 2.6 on windows 7..and here is my question, i just made a small animation, about 14 frames, and i saved it..so how do i get it to play outside of gimp. in other words can it only play in gimp? i have windows live movie maker and i loaded it up into it and it will not play....how do i get this to work...please help...thanks

You need to save it as either a APNG or GIF file.Most likely you do not have apng installed so use GIF. :)
Then select save as animation in the dialog that opens.

well i did this and it still will not play outside of gimp...

When you say you did this, what did you do?
Did you export as gif or png?
Did you check the animation option in the export dialog?

Download Virtual Dub, open your Gif in VD and save it as an avi.

as default export as gif will FLATTEN :gaah

So it would destroy the animation...very dumb default since nowadays there are no reasons to save as gif something that is not a animation...but alas that the default

so i imagine you just used the default without noticing the "save as animation " box

xnview will also play them as animations.
