Hi there,

I'd like to announce yet another release of the G'MIC plug-in for GIMP
I would write a message here, because this 1.5.1.9 version is the latest of the 1.5.1.x series, and this means I need to work hard for the next 'major' release (1.5.2.0), in order to make serious changes to honor this new milestone !

So, be prepared to stick with this latest version for a long time (at least, I hope so !).

If you haven't yet installed this plug-in, feel free to do it, it's free, open-source, and it contains a lot of filters that may interest you. Also, thanks to all G'MIC contributors who are members of GimpChat, there are a lof of them here

I got an error message when starting up Gimp.

for the updated package, Ronounours. I'm spoiled and can't imagine using GIMP without G'MIC.

@Erisian : What OS are you using ? From what version did you update ?

I'm using Windows XP SP2 and Gimp 2.6.11. I didn't update, I uninstalled the old version
(1.5.1.7 I believe) and installed the new one.

Did you use the win32 installer, or the win64 archive instead ?

I used the win 32 installer.

@Erisian : Just checked on my Virtualized XP. I've uninstalled G'MIC, checked that all the G'MIC-related files were deleted, then installed the plug-in using the Win32 installer (latest version 1.5.1.9).
It installed these files :



As you can see, there is the libstdc++-6.dll file. Could you check you have all these files too ?

Sorry to have wasted your time on this. I previously used the default installation which was in a 2.8 folder. The G'MIC my Gimp was trying to load was obviously something left behind from the previous installation. This time I changed it to 2.6 and it works fine. Thank you very much for your help.

Erisian some gimp builds (Partha for sure , not sure about Samj's ) have that dll preinstalled (in the bin folder ) and anyway are other gimp plugin that may require/add that dll

SO TO SOLVE check not only the plugin folder or the subfolder where you placed gmic but ALL GIMP for for that dll, and if you found another in bin , or in another plugin folder do NOT remove or rename
Instead delete that you have just addded with gmic (if not you will break some other plugin )

I bet that your problem is not for a missed sll but because you have 2 or more identical dll inside the same gimp

(Alas in some rare cases is needed to have a clone of a dll , but then should be done very carefully to avoid conflict, and i found only 1 case when was needed...but by coicidence it was with the very same dll giving you problem now )

Even when the error message is about "missing dll" or "can't find dll" is probable the problem be more then 1 identical dll

So check well for clones of that dll

@Erisian : Nice to see that everything is working fine. I always fear to get some serious bugs after a new release, so finally I'm relieved by this false alarm :p

Sorry....I have downloaded the Windows 64 bit zip file which does not have installer. Can you please explain how I install it. I have tried clicking on the exe file but nothing happens.

I guess Samj is your friend in that case, she has done the win64 package.
