Just my opinion and not a criticism but the last one I really like. the others seem "static" I guess is the best way of putting it. As Simon Cowell would put it...."not memorable". Nice clean designs tho.

not sure what you mean with static but i understand not memorable

just to clarify, these are all record covers from about 1996-97
they have a different feel in original size

in my mp3 player they are like 300x300 pixels, the original cover is about 14x14inches and printed on some nice, sometimes glossy, cardboard

i agree, that these are all very simple designs
i was very surprised about that
you know, if you own something for 15 years and it had a certain impact on your life and then you discover, that these designs were probably made very quickly, in about an hour, its kind of disenchanting :)

but, its lots of fun recreating these
its simple, there is focus, you can practice very basic stuff like arranging elements, working with selctions, etc. so you learn something and its rewarding

thanks for the comment Draconian, i really appreciate your opinion !

this is a bit like being in a time machine :). imo you did good on those three deep blue/blame covers, but since it's so minimalistic and and so exact maybe the font on the last one should be scaled down to allow the logo boxes to stay in the same position - or is that tried and proved impossible? i can imagine you already spent hours upon hours getting everything in the right place and without jagged edges!

I hear where you're coming from and in retrospect I probably should have said simplistic and still qualifies as art.

I know what you mean about something having an impact on your life. There is a lot of music from the 50's and 60's (especially the Doors) that takes me back to Viet Nam. Every time I hear it I get a little meloncholy and feel like emptying the sand out of my boots. :hehe

Keep 'em coming, man. Mee-sah likin yoo stuffs!

:ninja AnMal!

you mean the Transition text should line up with the grey boxes ?

yeah i tried several versions what would look best - it seemed too big when i did it that way

but now that you mention it, i agree that i could improve that detail a bit

EDIT: i like your new signature AnMal !

Esper, I like all of them, especially like the text on the last one, with the black to white gradient it cause the white border to fade out and disappear and looks really effective.

if that means "you mean the Transition text should be made smaller so the two layers of text can fit in the same space as the single layers of text in the other two covers so the grey logo boxes can stay in the same position as in the other two covers" - then yes, that's what i mean :) . i probably should keep my mouth shut about this though - i could never do minimalistic things myself, i'm far too messy.
