What does the faery want? Who is the man and why does he look so uninterested?

Why indeed.

GIMP + MyPaint. Used a slightly different workflow for this, painting the entire image in greyscales before adding colour. Quite interesting actually.
Done for a group exhibition (see link on DA).

Wow, Griatch, your work is fantastic. gets better and better every time I see it. The hair on this guy looks so real, as does the velour robe he is wearing. His nose and black eye looks like he got himself in a bit of a scuff, Excellent A+

I love your interpretation of a fairy! The picture is excellent, the man's expression is making me so curious as to what is going on!

Very nice. The fabric is fantastic... There is just a small oversight that leads me to suggest a caption:

beautiful work! strangely enough it made me think of manet - maybe because the man reminds me of the young woman in "plum".

I'm sorry Griatch but it looks to me like you need to get a new lens for that camera you used to take the picture of the man in the background. There must be something wrong with the lens cuz it looks kinda like you painted in the hair or something.

Oh wait! I figured it out. I'm sorry, you musta painted in the hair over the photo at the same time you painted in the fairy, huh? :rofl

Griatch - you're a wizard! I love fairies and I happen to know that they find it difficult to get our attention. It frustrates them but it might explain why the man looks disinterested. (looks like somebody has bopped him on the nose as well. Maybe this fairy does Ju-Jitsu.)

Thanks for the comments!

@molly
He does look a bit worse for wear, yes. :)

@2-ton
Glad you like the faery, some mean it's too "flat", guess it's a matter of taste. :)

@ofnuts
Hehe, it took me a while to get that reference (my Peter Pan is a bit rusty) but it's a really funny interpretation! Thanks!

@AnMal
Oh, now that you mention it, yes Édouard Manet's Plum Brandy does display a similar pose to this!

@Draconian
:D

@Erisian
Lol, that may be an explanation, yes - she kicked his ass to get at least some of his attention. :)

LOL@ofnuts, gahahaha I needed to laugh. xD

About the drawing...
Omd, I'm used to little more loose to realistic drawings, where you keep it looking touchable but still not fully real looking, this here, looks so real! Even the fairy fits well and it doesn't have the same depth as the person does! The only thing that looks a wee bit odd to me is the red shadows looks a bit over contrasted...But that it probably preference.

Very nice I love it!
:mrgreen:
