Love these. I wish I could do something like this but I never could...but what kind of program would one use to create something like this?

I agree, Esper. Those "fingers" that pluck the strings spook me out.

Thanks for sharing, Lyle. How could anyone keep their head together enough to make that and then have it play?

lol; don't ask me O. I actually had all the Mind's Eye videos (well before DVDs came out) back in the early 90s. Use to play these all the time. My nephew was fascinated with these computer art snippets. Now, the Animusic folk are continuing with this and am in awe of their creative talent. Need to get the new DVD (have their original). :)

A classic! I still find the dropping balls (Pipe dream) to be my favourite, but the this one is also brilliant.
I always wondered if these were actual physics simulations or animations done in tune with the music. Interestingly I learned that whereas it's not a fully physics simulation, the animation is reacting to the MIDI music in real time, apparently - it's a programmed system that can play any musical piece handed to it (probably some better than others, obviously).

Intel made a real version of Pipe dreams by the way.

Orignal Pipe dreams:
