Woe is me. I think my registry is messed up, and if it is, so is my backup. That, as we all know, means that I have to reinstall windows and all 250+ applications. There goes the rest of the day, I hope there aren't any snags.

you are not going too fast ?

Maybe your registry is messed up, if so can't see why this should have damaged your back up, and in any case may be less radical solution to reformat

If my registry is corrupt and I backed that up then the backup will be corrupt too.

I never use restore points. There were just a LOT of things not working right, too many to go through here. I pretty much have everything backed up, I just had to go save the recent things. It's done now anyway, I just have to spend the next few days setting up all the software up the way I want it, except for gimp.

Yes sometimes a clean install is just the best thing to do. Glad you got it up and running GMS.

I just wasn't sure how the reinstall would work. We subscribe to a company that supplies non profit organizations with software at greatly reduced prices. I got 4 copies on windows 7 pro for free. I could get photoshop, ai, dreamweaver, etc for free too if I wanted them, or ms office. I wasn't sure how it would see my reinstall, whether it would see it as a clean install, thus using one of our licenses or just do it. We buy several dozen licenses for like $5 or $10 each.

I used to want to have photoshop as well as Gimp, but with the newest Gimp...or I should say McGimp, I now longer want it. I just don't need it and don't want to have to relearn the processes.
