a little cover thingy i made tonight for a track called 'Satellite Song', in the Underground Resistance remix

its a techno track, so i tried to give the art a real techno feeling
the image i googled is apparently 'telstar', the first communication satellite in human history

You do a lot of CD cover work, do you also CD label artwork? I tried to make some CD labels for my car copies of my Queen CD's, and they came out ok, but they seem to loosen and start peeling off after a while. So I end up using magic marker to label them.

esper: i like the background, the noise and the faded gradient cross, they go well with the satellite. but there's something about all the symmetry that i'm not so sure of - did you experiment a lot with the placing of the satellites? what if you didn't mirror them? or maybe you could put in one spot of colour somewhere, just to create some sort of break? or are you completely happy with the result yourself - you know the music after all, i don't :).

no, i made this pretty quick
just dropped the satellite pic in the corner and that was it

for my taste the picture is perfect, which is something i rarely feel
i love symmetry - this mirror thing is a trick is pull of a lot and it mostly makes me happy (controlfreak )

and yeah the music is pretty robotic

if you want to do something with the pic, be my guest, i would love to see what you come up with

esper: i understand that, if you feel the picture is perfect then it is :). i usually love symmetry too - don't know what it is about this one that i don't quite like. works very well with the music though.

I remember when they launched Telstar and Tiros, we thought it was the coolest thing to ever happen.

I saw the symmetry thing too.
I like the satellites part but their angle and the cross throws the text part off. If the UR was near the top of the cross away from the base points of the satellites or SS was added with UR maybe?

im not sure what you mean with adding an 'SS'
SS for USSR ?

UR is short for Underground Resistance ! ;)
they are big big names in the techno scene

originally i wanted to type Underground Resistance over the middle stripe

hm, i still like it the way it is

It might look less flat if the lighting came from the center of the crossing lines. Still it does have a very techno look.
