Edit
the color widget works
only IF inserting manually the numbers in the numeric boxes ;
no way to use the sliders in case the command is just ignored.

Oh, David, I love this. I like the randomness of both placement and size of stars. I'm going to play with it some more before I make any requests about it. Using a color didn't make any difference for me. The filter just punched out transparent stars for me. I added a yellow background layer for each stars layer.

As i wrote above you may give a color but only putting number in the numeric field of the color widget
instead as you seen command with slider are ignored

anyway now that i could give a color to the stars i may see how the filter work and i noticed that often the star overlap
(overlap is the cause of the "large transparent holes no shaped as stars" when value for Density is high)
That could be nice and the stars nicer with a second color used to add a contour line to the star
If i may suggest a default yellow star with white outline
I hope to not ask much but in case 2 added options would be excellent:
,the 1st to kept the star outline sharp , internally and externally
the 2nd to smooth and merge the outlines, the stars edges color
internally (inside the star , let say apply a blur from the edges direct to the the center )
the second option should add a glossy effect and some depth
