the original collage (autumn poem bad colours.png) was made on polyvore.com. an inspiring site, at least the art section. but it has its dowsnisdes, one is that the finished collage often changes a lot after you publish it, due to the constant changes on the site. this collage, for example, had warmer colours when i first published it than when i saved it to my usb-unit a few days ago. i wanted to make it a fake painting, so i played with some gimp filters and i managed to not only get the colours vibrant and warm, but i also got some more movement and life into the picture without destroying the background patterns completely - at least that's what i think :).

Both are excellent, I think I'm partial to #1 but the detail in #2 is interesting :blind

odinbc: thank you! but did you mean the first one spatially or the first one chronologically?
if you meant it spatially, then i agree with you completely, i like the detail in the second one (which is the original collage). but the colours were a few degrees warmer and deeper when i first finished it, then something changed on the site where i made it and the colours looked all washed out. now i'm just disappointed with the original because i know what the colours are supposed to look like!

It's more of a mood thing. The first one just seems to grab your attention, I loved the bold colors, it jumps out. As much as I liked the first one, I found myself spending more time with the second one, a little more tranquil, reflective.

I prefer two. It's very alive like Van Gogh's paintings.

erisian: number two? but are you talking spatially or chronologically? when you say "alive" i think of my remake, so i'll guess that's what you're referring too as well - i liked the movement in that one.

I quite like the second one, it would make a nice post card. But I do think the leaf pattern in the background is a little too much. The first one looks too overdone to me.

I was referring to the "bad colours" version.

he4rty and SkyRoma: thanks for taking the time to comment! it's funny you should like the original best because i was very happy with it when i first made it but now i only see the washed out colours and i don't like it any longer. erisian, you too prefer my old collage to the fake painting, that's so strange! maybe it's the colourless autumn we're having here in sweden that makes me like the fake painting so much better?

The first one looks like it could be a quilt!

2-ton: you're right! it would be a lovely quilt to have too - hmm... no, there's no way in the world i would have time to make it, but it's still a lovely plan for a quilt!
