before i joined GimpChat, my main forum was dogsonacid.com
a forum part electronic music discussion forum, but also a testosterone fueled trollfest

a guy from this forum, makes music and he posted one of his tunes
i liked it so much, i asked him if i could have it, and he said yes

you can hear his tune here:
http://soundcloud.com/louis83/flunk-out

its a nice bubbly tune with flutes, called 'Flunk Out'

so i wanted to make a little cover for this guy, which is supposed to look nice and glittery and bubbly and possibly with a flute in it

it turned out to be pink, which is probably not most boys favorite color....so i tried to tone it all abit down

not sure if i succeeded, all comments welcome

I actually like this one from your friend Esper. Didn't know about your musical interest. Do you play an instrument too? :)

no i dont, and its programmed music made with samples
i love music, but i dont think im talented to make music myself
in the past i had a certain interest in trying to program music myself, but its very technical, i guess even more than working with Gimp, so i never got around doing it

Well, I do like your poster too. You have a knack at that form of art and am sure your friend appreciates your efforts too. :)

Looks good, try a burn, soft light or overlay with the black text.

what do you mean with burn, Odinbc ? the tool, dodge and burn ?

when i put the black Louis83 on soft light or overlay, it becomes slightly transparent

I just thought the black text to background contrast wasn't quite right in the original. It's hard to tell from my end how it may look but what I was trying to say was play with layer modes and stroke the text if necessary.

Esper - really nice, I like the black text and the pink, the image as a whole is very crisp and smooth round the edges, well done.

Nice music, a wee bit repetitive but that happens a lot with electronically built music. The CD cover is very good and goes well with the music.

esper: that's very well made! makes a good overall impression and went fits the music - and features shocking pink text, so i'd say it's a hit .
