Did this one, this afternoon.

And using the same original pic I got this, this evening
Image I did't use any colourisation or reverse colouring either.
Biohazard I do like yours. I googled "traditional Burmese clothing" last night and your background was in the first few. :bigthup

Thank you Anmal. I do like how the gimp and G'MIC help you with creativity.

Thats really Nice, the only thing I would suggest is can you out the smiley face in front of the circle background.

thanks, it started out I was just playing with "flicker dots", thus the squinting. Got a little hard to look at, so I ended up with that one. :)

Here's some tiles....

Realised after looking through the wonderful artwork on this site one area I'm sadly lacking in is creating backgrounds for images, I always tend to go for white, blacks or white to black blended. So this image came about as I decided to have a play at just creating a background but it stands alone on its own.

he4rty: :wow that's really great!! impressive on its own and would still work wel as a background. i haven't been into this thread for a while so i'd missed your felt background too, it's very good. how did you make the stitches?
nzdawghaus: i like that, the simple pattern gives a nice effect. i don't agree with he4rty, i don't think the smiley should be put in front of the pattern. it looks good the way it is!

just have to post some of my latest. i've been at home all day with a cold and was too tired to work on anything until about two hours ago when i suddenly got an energy kick (all that honey an eucalyptus water, no doubt) and made a whole bucketload of wallpapers.

i agree with he4rty, they are all interesting in their own way

the first one has some details i especially like
the paisleys with the halftone (or is it the newspaper filter ?), the sand-like texture
how did you make the gradient striped "blob" ?
it looks a bit like a tropical fish

he4rty: thank you!
esper: thanks! the "blob" took some time, but not too many steps involved: first, i made a layer mask by using a huge splatter brush in black on white, grunged the edges a bit with a grunge brush and grunged the inside of the splatter a little with the same grunge brush put on a very low opacity level. the gradient is one i custom made, i filled a layer with that layer set on spiral fill, then i used some smoothing effects, the water effect in g'mic-deformations and some gaussian blur (on 2 or 3) to get a more painted and smudged out look, then i applied the layer mask on that layer. the paisleys were made with a layer mask as well and i didn't use any filters, instead i made a separate grunge layer and filled it with one of my patterns with transparent background (i tweaked the result a little to make it a little less mechanical), then coloured the pattern white and merged it down with the paisley layer mask. i applied that mask to the blob layer and that got me some nice, not perfectly stencilled out paisleys.

Hello he4rty,

could you explain it more specific? I mean, where are the pixelise, map to pallate is located? and what exactly did you do with soble edge to get different height? isn't it enough to use bump map? I am asking a lot of questions because I want to make your wallpaper. it looks very beautiful. Thanx :D

I sometimes make wallpapers. This is the one that I particularly like. I was following some tutorial.

You can see other wallpapers here. All of them are following tutorials (except "ubuntu hold hands")

Btw for "ubuntu hold hands", do you guys have any suggestions to make it more realistic? Because I think it is not realistic enough T_T
